Blending
unit involved in manufacturing of gasolines, gas oil and fuel oils.
Last stage before products leave the refinery. The simulator may work
stand-alone or connected to an optimization tool.

The Prime G+ process licensed by Axens is in line with new regulations in terms of sulphur content (lower than 10 wppm) in year 2005 for gasoline (Ultra Low Sulfur Gasoline: ULSG). The feed mainly consists of FCC gasoline. The process takes place in two steps - Selective Hydrogenation Unit and Deep Hydrodesulfurization with minimum octane loss.
The HDS reactor includes 3 catalytic beds (dual catalyst).
The POS developed by RSI SIMCON engineering team models the following units/equipment:
Selective Hydrogenation Unit
Splitter
HDS reactor
Hydrogen recycle compression
Stabilizer
Blending
Reactor models are based on rigorous kinetic equations developed by IFP R&D development team and validated in industrial conditions.
The simulator is used as an advanced training tool for main process interactions during a one day training course on site. The training is provided by Axens/Axens North America before the unit start-up and then as continuing education. The simulator is also used to evaluate process options and perform predictive simulations.
Octanizing (Axens Licensed)- Regenerative Catalytic Reforming Unit
POS: helps users to take decisions regarding operation. OTS:
study of catalyst regeneration system
protection devices of the unit
Identify and react to emergency and unsafe situations, etc.
Ancap Process Overview
Octanizing process licensed by Axens . The POS (for ANCAP refinery – Montevideo, Uruguay, delivered in 2002) aimed at helping the users - Plant Engineers, Process Engineers and Central Planning Engineers - to make decisions regarding the process operation.
The Process Operator Simulator includes:
the Reforming Reaction Section in which the hydrotreated naphtha cut is processed in 4 reactors. The section is equipped with 3 interheaters in order to counterbalance the reactions endothermicity
the Recontacting Section consisting of a compression and separation stage for hydrogen production
the Stabilization Section, stabilizer column and related equipment.
Debutaniser overhead drum with reflux and expedition pumps
Debutaniser reboiler pumps with fired furnace and six passes
Debutaniser bottom pumps and condensate exchangers
The simulator is based on the
real control of the Process worked out by Yokogawa. Familiarising
operators with the Yokogawa CS3000 DCS.
RSI SIMCON delivered 6 weeks training course on CCR simulator to prepare operators for Unit commissioning
